Steve Aoki may not be stage diving at Events & Festivals anymore... after a woman is suing the DJ claiming that he broke her neck during one of his infamous stage dives.
Aoki is renowned for his live show, which includes numerous acts such as "cake throwing", "robot C02 machines" & “raver rafting” in which he inflates a rubber dinghy and goes crowd surfing around the venue. If you're a true Aoki fan, you know exactly what you're in for when attending his shows... however Brittney Hickman claims she didn't know this when she attended her first Aoki show at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego in May 2012... According to a report by ABC News 10, Hickman ended up caught under the raft in the crowd and when Aoki leapt into the audience from a rafter, he landed on top of her head and knocked her unconscious. |

3 Years later and Brittney is now suing Aoki and the Hard Rock Hotel for the injuries incurred. Hickman explained that she felt foggy and confused after the incident and said: They released me back into the concert. At the point when I walked outside, that’s when I realised where I was. After the pain got worse, Hickman went to the hospital for a CAT scan. She added: The doctor comes in and he says ‘don’t move.’ The medics come over and start to put a neck brace on me. And I remember thinking, ‘What’s going on?’ And the doctor said you broke your neck. |
"If I would have thrown my arms above my head or reached for something, I could have paralysed myself. I just want to be back to the way I was before."
The trial is set for late August. This incident may make you think twice about stage diving during festival season this summer!
